What is EFT

What is EFT?

EFT is so many things. “The more I read about different healing energy modalities that are now being recognized as credible ways of living a richer and calmer life style, the more I can identify the likeness of EFT in those modalities”.

EFT – Emotional Freedom Techniques (also known as “Tapping”), is a form of psychological acupressure: combining ancient Chinese medicine with modern day psychology. It is based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture. Acupuncture has been used to treat physical and emotional ailments for over 5 thousand years. With EFT needles are not required; instead, we simply tap with the finger tips on specific acupressure points (meridian endpoints) located on the head and chest and throughout the body while thinking and/or reciting words and affirmations specific to ones issues. This valuable energy tool can be applied to *traumatic events (large or small, past or present), an *addiction, *pain, *anxiety, *stress or an unfavorable incident, event or confrontation that just won’t leave you alone, as well as a *vast number of conditions (from fibromyalgia to cancer in order to manage the condition and promote good health.) The benefits can be astounding.

Energy exchanges with a certified practitioner can be very powerful to this process.

*From my experience, these situations usually require more than one individual session. However I have had clients that improved in 1 or 2 sessions, as well as clients that have taken up to 7-8 sessions with me based on their own window of transition. This is a subjective energy modality and affects people in their own time frame.

EFT helps us to become more mindful.

Also used as needed or as a day to day ritual, it can free us up to live our lives the way we were originally intended to be, in joy. We can realign with our core energy and actually feel a difference in mind and body.  We can reconcile all the static of situations we carry around with us. Get rid of the “stuff” that no longer serves us.

The aim of EFT is to neutralize our old responses so that the previous charge of them lessens. From my experience with my clients; we can remove the components that distress us. Therefore when acknowledging them again, perhaps in an instant when they come to the surface, we are able to shift out of them and get back into the present moment. The memories remain, but the way we look at them changes. {Go to the science behind EFT}

“When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change”

                                                                                                                                    Wayne Dyer

With EFT we can gain clarity to our situations giving us the ability to release them, and let them go. In having a genuine release in our bodies,  we can rewire our brain so that when we are triggered by something that reminds us of a past hurt, we have reached the point of being unaffected and our responses change because of the new perspective we’ve gained.

What kind of results can we expect?

Often when we start to “Tap” on our target intent, (what we are contending with at the moment) our minds will bring up a memory related or completely unrelated to the issue at hand. When this occurs, we then proceed to “Tap” on whatever comes up. It’s like “Peeling an Onion” until we feel a sense of release. I believe we are all capable of reaching this point. When we “Tap” we are honest and specific with our situation. We get the details on the table so that we can release them. (This is very subjective. Individual experiences vary in the way this release happens.)

When we “Tap” it’s true for a short time we might be looking at the negative side of things, but the reason we do this is so that we can give our acknowledgement to whatever it is we need to acknowledge in order to release it.

EFT is about loving ourselves (even when we have behaved in ways we’re not proud of, even when someone else has hurt us, even when we don’t know why we feel the way we do).

As EFT is starting to gain more and more credibility in being used as a tool to optimize our emotional and physical health, it is often overlooked. Emotional health is absolutely essential to our physical health, as is our physical health essential to our emotional healing. No matter how devoted we are to the proper diet and lifestyle, we will not achieve our bodies ideal healing and preventative abilities if our emotional barriers stand in our way.

Why “Tap”?
  • “Tapping” is an easy to learn, none invasive technique and you can use it anywhere.
  • I am personally familiar with psycho-therapy because I have used it for myself.
  • I think “tapping” is faster. Our issues can be collapsed in a shorter period of time.

This adage rings true, “What we resist persists.” By letting go of resistances from the barriers we create, we can set ourselves free.
